GARY RYAN BLAIR
My name is Andre Harris. I am 18, and I want to be a Cyber Security Expert. I currently have my CompTIA ITF+, A+, Network+, and Security+ certifications.
School
I am a graduate of Manassas Park High School and the Governor’s School at Innovation Park. The Governor’s School is a program where high school students take college classes at George Mason University.
At Manassas Park High School, I’ve taken numerous Advanced Placement classes including: Human Geography, US History, Seminar, English and Composition, Research, Government and Politics, and Literature and Composition. I was a member of the National Honor Society (NHS). In NHS, I helped with Food Drives, the MPHS band with their competitions, and volunteered at the Career Fair. I was Vice President of the United and Strong club, where we spread cultural awareness throughout the school. We posted bulletin boards around the school pertaining to Lunar New Year, Black History Month, Pacific Islanders Month, and hosted the Multicultural Night.
At the Governor’s School at Innovation Park, I have taken the following college classes: Calculus I, II, III, and Linear Algebra, Computer Science 112, Intro to Engineering, Engineering Practicum, Statics, & Thermodynamics. In addition, I was the President of the No Place for Hate Committee where we strived to end hate and discrimination within our school.
In Fall 2023, I will be attending North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, majoring in Computer Science. I have been accepted into their Honors College as well.
Church
At First Baptist Church of Manassas, I usher every third Sunday, sing in the choir, participate in community events, and assist the Audio/Video Ministry. I am President of the Junior Ushers of FBC and the Vice-President of the state Junior Usher Board for the Interdenominational Church Ushers Association of Virginia. I am the youngest Usher Instructor in the state of Virginia. On January 17, 2022, I was the winner of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest hosted by Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Warrenton, Virginia.
Job Experience
For the last 2 years, I have worked an internship at TestPros located in Sterling, Virginia. At TestPros, I assist with drafting federal proposals by formatting resumes and redesigning/updating graphics, creating an employee database using Microsoft Access, managing user accounts with Microsoft Admin Center, creating the quarterly newsletter with Microsoft Publisher, creating articles to focus on our Search Engine Optimization, sourcing for candidates on Indeed, migrating a company’s phone service from analog to Microsoft Teams, assisting with recruiting efforts using Indeed and JazzHR.
I am part of the Commission on Technology and Media for the Northern Virginia Baptist Association. Another student and I redesigned the website and now we assist in continuously updating the website (novabaptist.org) and Facebook page.
